When Is Peak Foliage Near Skaneateles?
Historically, the Finger Lakes peak from mid-October into early November, according to I LOVE NY's foliage reports. Higher hills around the lake usually turn first, with the lakeshore following. For the week of October 14 to 20, 2026, the state report listed Syracuse near peak, Cazenovia and Cortland at peak, and Auburn just past half changed. Check the weekly I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report (updated Wednesdays) before you go.

Fall Stay Questions
Is the dock still in for fall stays?
Docks usually come out in early October, but the waterfront is still a lovely walk, and the paddleboards are a fall favorite on calm September days.
Is hunting season a concern on hiking trails?
Some preserves and state forests allow hunting in fall. Wear blaze orange, stay on marked trails and check each property's rules. Hinchcliff's marked trail is open to hikers only on Sundays and Mondays from November 21 to December 22.
Is firewood provided for the fire pit?
Ask us through Airbnb before arrival. New York restricts moving untreated firewood more than 50 miles, so buy it locally if you bring your own.
