Spring in Skaneateles: Waterfalls, Wildflowers and Trout Season
Spring is the cottage's secret season. Waterfalls run full, the magnolia on the lawn blooms pink, the stream along the property rushes, and the lake is all yours before summer arrives.

Spring at the Cottage
Walk the wooded path by the stream, watch the hardwoods leaf out and enjoy quiet evenings at the fire pit. The docks typically go in around Memorial Day, kicking off lake season.
Spring Activities
- Waterfalls at their fullest: Carpenter Falls (26 min), Fillmore Glen (36 min) and Taughannock Falls (1 hr 16 min).
- Wildflower walks at Baltimore Woods Nature Center (13 min).
- Fishing: the lake is open all year for trout and salmon, and most streams open for trout harvest on April 1. Grout Brook (17 min) has a well-known spring run of wild rainbows. See Fly Fishing.
- Village strolls and shopping before the summer crowds (10 min).
- Graduation weekends: Syracuse University is 35 minutes away and Cornell University is 55 minutes away.
