Booking and Arrival
How do I book?
All reservations go through our Airbnb listing, which shows live availability, pricing and the cancellation policy for your dates.
What are check-in and checkout times?
Check-in is after 4 PM and checkout is by 11 AM. Self check-in uses a keypad, and you'll receive the code and directions through Airbnb before arrival.
Where do we park?
Free parking on the property for up to 4 cars.
How many people can stay?
Up to 8 guests, in 4 bedrooms (king, queen, queen and a bunk room) plus a pull-out sleeper sofa. There are 2.5 bathrooms.
House Policies
Are pets allowed?
We can't host pets. Service animals are welcome in line with Airbnb's policy.
Can we have a party or event?
No parties or events. Quiet hours are 11 PM to 7 AM, and the cottage is non-smoking.
Are there security cameras?
There is one exterior Ring doorbell camera at the front door.
The Lake
How far is the water?
A 3 to 5 minute walk down a paved lane to a shared waterfront with a dedicated renters dock and a small beach with a shallow entry. Please use the road, not neighbors' yards, and the renters dock only.
Can I bring or rent a boat?
Yes. Renters can keep a boat on the mooring about 30 feet off the renters dock, overnight for the length of their stay. Launch at the NYS DEC ramp on Route 41A (15 min) or rent from Skaneateles Marina (18 min). New York requires boats and trailers to be cleaned, drained and dried before launching.
Are kayaks and paddleboards included?
Yes: 2 kayaks and 2 stand-up paddleboards, plus a lake wagon and lake towels.
When is the dock in?
Docks on the lake are seasonal. Ours typically go in around Memorial Day and come out in early October.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes, anyone 16 or older needs a New York State fishing license. Buy one online from the NYS DEC.
Inside the Cottage
How fast is the Wi-Fi?
About 500 Mbps. The home office has a door, two monitors, a webcam and a docking station.
Is there air conditioning and laundry?
Yes to both: air conditioning, plus a washer and dryer.
What's provided?
Linens, towels, toiletries, a fully equipped kitchen with spices and basics, paper towels, cleaning supplies, games, puzzles and books. See the full amenity list.
Any kitchen tips?
The smoke alarms are sensitive. Run the range vent and extra fan when searing or air frying.
Getting Around
Where is the nearest grocery store?
Tops Friendly Markets in Skaneateles village is 11 minutes away. Wegmans in Auburn is 21 minutes away.
How far is Skaneateles village?
About 10 minutes by car. Syracuse University is 35 minutes away and Cornell is 55 minutes away.
When to Visit
What's the best time to visit Skaneateles?
For swimming and boating, late June through August. For color and harvest, mid-September through October, with foliage typically peaking mid-October to early November. December brings Dickens Christmas weekends, and spring brings full waterfalls and quiet trails. Explore our seasonal guides to choose.
